You can make the vanilla buttercream frosting after the cupcakes have cooled down
Put some frosting in each of the two bowls
Use red food coloring in one bowl of frosting and blue food coloring in the other to make two different colors for the fault line effect
Use a piping bag with one color of frosting to make a circle in the middle of each cupcake
Pipe a ring of frosting around the outside of each cupcake
Crush gummy bears and put them in the middle of the circle to make the fault line effect
To cover the fault line, use a star-shaped piping tip to pipe swirls of the other color frosting on top of each cupcake
